Computer Use
Observe equivalent fractions. Enter a fraction, mixed number or integer to get fractions that are equivalent to your input. Example entries:
- Fraction - similar 2/3 or 15/16
- Mixed number - like 1 1/ii or four 5/6
- Integer - like 5 or 28
What are Equivalent Fractions?
Equivalent fractions are fractions with different numbers representing the aforementioned office of a whole. They accept different numerators and denominators, just their fractional values are the same.
For example, remember about the fraction 1/2. It means half of something. You can as well say that vi/12 is half, and that fifty/100 is half. They correspond the same part of the whole. These equivalent fractions incorporate different numbers but they hateful the same thing: 1/2 = six/12 = 50/100
How to Discover Equivalent Fractions
Multiply both the numerator and denominator of a fraction past the same whole number. As long as y'all multiply both top and bottom of the fraction past the same number, you won't change the value of the fraction, and yous'll create an equivalent fraction.
Instance Equivalent Fractions
Find fractions equivalent to 3/4 by multiplying the numerator and denominator by the same whole number:
\( \dfrac{three}{4} \times \dfrac{ii}{two} = \dfrac{6}{viii} \)
\( \dfrac{3}{4} \times \dfrac{3}{3} = \dfrac{ix}{12} \)
\( \dfrac{3}{iv} \times \dfrac{4}{iv} = \dfrac{12}{16} \)
\( \dfrac{3}{iv} \times \dfrac{5}{5} = \dfrac{15}{20} \)
\( \dfrac{3}{4} \times \dfrac{6}{6} = \dfrac{xviii}{24} \)
Therefore these are all equivalent fractions:
\( \dfrac{three}{4} = \dfrac{vi}{8} = \dfrac{nine}{12} = \dfrac{15}{xx} = \dfrac{xviii}{24} \)
Note that if you reduce all of these fractions to lowest terms, they equal three/4.
